Amid the horrors of the global pandemic, many of our beloved community institutions have faced diminished participation, declining revenues, and the need to retrench. On the other hand, some institutions that were pursuing growth strategies in the years leading up to 2020 chose to maintain their strategic focus through these months and achieved significant success in spite (or because?) of the pandemic. During this session, we will explore the types of leadership decisions that enabled this success, discuss ramifications for the post-pandemic world and lessons learned for future crises, and consider ethical questions associated with strengthening our institutional position during times of worldwide hardship.
